The holidays are just around the corner and all too often we get caught up in the stress that goes along with it, without regard for self-care. It’s easy to go into auto-pilot just to get through the parties, shopping, family obligations and indulgent feasts. You can head-off these challenges by increasing your health and wellness skill set during the month of November, as a variety of free events are scheduled in Franklin County to help you improve your health.
Diabetes Health Fair: Featuring blood glucose testing, A1C testing, foot exams, diabetic retinal exams, blood pressure testing, light snacks and giveaways. A $250 value for FREE. Keystone Family Medicine, 820 5th Ave, Chambersburg. Saturday, November 10, 9am-12pm
Forestry Walk at Franklin County Eco Park: Please join us for a fall walk in the woods and learn all about forests! Professor Craig Houghton will lead us through the Eco Park while sharing information about how forests change over time, how to identify trees, how to care for forests, and more! Mr. Houghton has been a Forest Technology Professor at Penn State Mont Alto since 1993 and he also serves as the Chairman of the Keystone Chapter of the Society of American Foresters. Grocery Store Tours: If you are living with diabetes, eating a healthy diet is an important part of managing your disease. Join us for a free grocery store tour led by a health educator. Learn how understand food labels, calculate carbohydrate servings, and shop for better meal and snack options.

Be Merry and Live Well Holiday Wellness Workshop: It can be hard to stay healthy during the holidays. This free workshop will enforce 3 concepts to managing weight over the holidays; staying moving, choosing better foods, and relieving stress. Join us to receive free giveaways that will support your healthy habits over the holidays, taste healthy modifications to holiday foods, and learn more about future workshops happening in the new year.
