Healthy Franklin County is promoting the Everybody Walk Across Pennsylvania (EWAP), a free, virtual, 8-week walking challenge this fall. This program is great for worksites, schools, community groups, and individuals and is coordinated by Penn State Cooperative Extension (PSCE). The program runs from September 8, 2025 to November 3, 2025. The registration deadline is September 5 for the walking program. Participants must register HERE.

Healthy Franklin County will be providing incentives to participants who live and work in Franklin County who can earn entries to have a chance to win health and wellness baskets (FitBit; New Habits, New Me - A Daily Food and Exercise Journal: Fitness Tracker to Cultivate a Better You; GoFit Ankle Weights, GoFit Fitness Mat; GoFit Flat Band Kit). A random drawing will be held at the end of the program (five health and wellness baskets will be awarded). Participants must register by September 12 for the Healthy Franklin County incentives HERE.

To be eligible for the Healthy Franklin County incentives, participants MUST be registered with the EWAP walking program through PSCE and the Healthy Franklin County incentives program. You must first register as a "participant" with the EWAP program and then when prompted through an email from PSCE to register a team name you must register as an "individual". This means those who participate in the incentives program will have to log their miles as an individual too.

Background

Healthy Franklin County promotes the Everybody Walk Across Pennsylvania walking program coordinated by Penn State Cooperative Extension as part of its “Move for Mental Health” campaign to promote the benefits of physical activity on mental health and to promote local resources and supports. Since 2023, over 500 people have participated and logged over 40.900 miles from Franklin County. 90% of survey participants said their mental health improved & 88% said their physical activity increased during the spring walking challenge.

We are excited to promote the fall walking challenge and hope we can engage more people who live and work in Franklin County to increase their physical activity and improve their mental health. And to connect our residents with mental health resources and support.
